Which are the UK's Most Valuable Post Codes
The United Kingdom’s golden postcodes have been revealed on one property website’s updated list of the most valuable areas. The property site Zoopla.co.uk disclosed that London’s W8 area – Kensington – is at the very top of the list of the country’s most expensive postcodes. The average price of a home in his highly exclusive area now tops out at £1.5 million – a significant increase from last year’s prices, which averaged 9.4% less. Taking the place of the country’s most expensive street yet again is Kensington Palace Gardens. The average piece of property on this street costs a startling £18 million. As was expected, London dominated the property price ranking after bouncing back from its 2008 low.
Also labelled ‘Billionaires’ Row’, this highly exclusive, gated street is home sweet home to billionaires from India and Russia, as well as royals who hail from Brunei and Saudi. Also included on this street is the wealthiest man in Britain – Lakshmi Mittal, the steel tycoon.
The only area outside of London that made the Top 10 list of gilded postcodes is Surrey’s Virginia Water. Virginia Water’s average property worth is currently £920,000.
As well as Kensington, just four additional areas in the UK can claim possessing one of these million pound postcodes. These include Chelsea and Knightsbridge, where the average price of a home falls just below £1.3 million, Notting Hill, where the average property cost is £1.2 million, and West Brompton, where the average cost of a home is just a bit over £1 million.
Britain’s number of golden postcode streets, where the average house value totals over £1 million, now adds up to 1,995 streets, with 1,418 of those – the greatest majority of all included streets – are located in London. Outside of the country’s capital city, areas that have the greatest number of the most expensive postcodes are Guildford, with 47, Richmond, with 44, and Leatherhead, with a grand total of 40 streets.
At the top of the list of the most expensive places to make your home outside of London – Windsor&Maidenhead, with an average home price of £393,000, South Gloucestershire, with an average of £367,000, and Surrey, with the average price of a house falling at £348,000.
The commercial director of the property website Zoopla.co.uk, Nick Leeming, is quoted as saying, “As a nation, we are obsessed with property values. The past 12 months has seen house prices in the leading areas of the country rebound at a far faster rate than average, contributing to a widening of the North-South divide.”
The other end of the scale, where the average property prices are least expensive, includes Hartlepool and North East Lincolnshire, with an average of less than £120,000 for a home.
